Fred Ramsey Memorial Foursomes at Cleve

8/08/2008 9:47:00 AM
Last Saturday was the Fred Ramsey Memorial Foursomes 27 hole competition. Nine teams teed off with high hopes of victory. Tactics came into play early with some low handicappers combining with high handicappers in the hope of holding Fred’s trophy high. Unfortunately for Coxy and Gazza this didn’t work.

The competition was so close that there was only 9.25 points separating first from last.

Back to back winners were the “mighty 10” Richardson brothers, Gut and Little Richy 126/102.75, with the runners up team of Pea Cox and Tony Zwar 126/103.50.

After Daniel Lee’s first tee off, dad, Andy must have thought he was in for a long day; however they recovered to take 4th position.

Whompa Crosby tried everything in his power to finish last with his partner Bob Minge, however even with sledging, making Bob hit left handed shots, putting him in the creek and making him sink 25 foot putts the worst they could do was finish fifth.

The two giants (well Wardy only!) of the business world in Cleve, Mark Ward and Captain James...no...Greg Cook had a very enjoyable day. Wardy took Captain Cook on a “voyage of discovery”, showing Cooky places that had never been discovered on the course!

The Bogeyman learnt a very valuable lesson from Wardy, don’t bet with him or do so at your own peril!

Gazza tried to exterminate Darling.com on 17 when he put him in the creek and Darlos nearly impaled himself on a box thorn!

Other Scores: G. Merrett/ P Darling 137/104.25; Lee Family 120/106.5, R. Minge/ B. Crosby 140/107.75( plus 2 eskies!); T. Grosser/K. Brazauskas 139/109.75; P. Arnold/K. Baxter 130/110.5; G. Cook/M. Ward 122/111.75; and tail lights N. Haines Darby/ T. Rodda 139/112.

NTP in 2: All three were won by the Lees!

Long Drives: A grade: D.Lee; B. grade Noofy; C grade: T. Woods.

Next week is the B grade State Sand Green Competition. Late entries are still being accepted, contact Greg Cook for details. It is possible to play either one or both days.

Good luck to all players and congratulations to Kimba and Cleve for holding this prestigious event.

Keep on swinging!
