Cleve’s Li’l Gym sensory garden and renovated Scout Hall was opened by SA Governor Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce on Wednesday
The Cleve and Districts Youth Advisory Committee and the Cleve Li’l Gym combined to receive a grant of $7000 from the ABB Grain Community Fund in 2007.
The funds were used on building renovations on the hall which is currently used by several community groups in Cleve, including the YAC and Li’l Gym.
Both groups applied for the funds from ABB separately, but after discussions, combined their focus to the one grant to ensure all community groups would receive the most benefit.
Youth advisory committee coordinator and youth development coordinator for the Eastern Eyre Health and Aged Care service Roxanne Prime said the grant had made it possible for the two groups, as well as others, to share the space.
“The Li’l Gym has a lot of equipment which is impractical for them to move it in and out every week. Now about a third of the building has been partitioned off so they can use that space to store their equipment,.”
The groups have received a series of grants and donations from local businesses to assist in the renovations.
